Audiobook version
Female physicist, Rosalind Porter, worked on the Manhattan project. Raised by her sister and brother in law after her mother died shortly after her birth, Rosalind has always surpassed expectations. Her love of science seems startling to many, but this didn’t stop Rosalind from pushing to be heard as loudly as the men. Most intrigued by Rosalind’s intellect and beauty was Tom Weaver, a British co-worker of hers. Their passionate love affair ends abruptly after the war, leaving Rosalind heartbroken on top of her crippling guilt of the release of the atomic bombs.
Five years later, Rosalind has finally put her life back together. She works at a jewelry counter in a department store, spends time with her best friend, Zeke, and often babysits her niece, Ava. When Weaver reaches out to her, and the FBI begins to follow her, Rosalind’s world flips back upside down. The FBI agent following her, Charlie, wants her help spying on Weaver, whom he suspects has been passing nuclear secrets to the Russians. Can Rosalind find it in herself to spy on a man she still loves, even for the well being of her country and the world?
This book is a lovely combination of love, science, and war. The passion throughout is powerful. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this one, but I was pleasantly surprised!
The character development in this book was thoroughly enjoyable. We get to journey back into Rosalind’s childhood as well as into Charlie’s war days. Background information like this helps me understand the characters thoroughly and makes my connection to them feel real!
“Atomic Love” is filled with suspense and kept me wanting to listen to more. The romance and passion are packed into almost every chapter, too, which makes every book even more enjoyable!
Atomic Love is a truly beautiful novel packed with aspects of love, war, and science. For all my historical fiction lovers out there, this one is for you!
