Synopsis:

(There are no spoilers in this review. Although it may seem like there are, we find out about Emma being engaged to a new man when her husband is found alive within the first sentence of the book!)

Emma Blair grew up in a small town outside of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her parents own and run an independent bookstore with hopes of passing it down to their daughters. Wanting no part of that life, Emma and her high school sweetheart, Jesse, move to Los Angeles. Both Jesse and Emma secure jobs that allow them to travel for work. Their life is perfect.

On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse has to cancel their celebratory plans for work. Tragically, the helicopter Jesse is traveling on goes missing over the Pacific, with no survivors found.

The loss is debilitating for Emma. She decides to quit her job and move back home to be with her family. Over the next few years, Emma slowly begins piecing her life back together. One day, she runs into an old school friend, Sam.

Emma is finally happy again with a life she never envisioned for herself. That is until Jesse is found alive. Emma now has a fiancé and a husband. With the pressure mounting, Emma must go soul searching to figure out not only who she wants to spend her life with, but also who she truly is.

Who is Emma’s one true love?

Review:

Oh my gosh. Okay, I finished this book weeks ago, but I had to give myself time to digest it fully. This book came so close to being a five star read for me, but something about it is just making me the tiniest bit uneasy and holding me back on that half a star.

I absolutely loved this book! It made me think a lot about the curveballs life can throw at us. Although I think I may have made different choices than Emma, I admire her character. It seems almost impossible to know what to do in a situation like hers.

I don’t want to say much else because it’s a book you need to go into with an open and clear mind! What I will say- Taylor Jenkins Reid knows how to write some incredible books!

Conclusion:

“One True Loves” is a heart quencher like no other. I fell in love with every character, and I hope you do, too!
