Jenna Bush Hager, first daughter and grand-daughter of the United States, recently lost her three remaining grandparents in the span of 13 months. This book contains a collection of touching essays dedicated to her beloved grandparents- President George H. W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush, as well as her name-sake and maternal grandmother, Jenna Welch.
Throughout the book, Jenna retells stories from her childhood, reads letters her grandparents wrote her and relays the powerful lessons they taught her throughout her life.
“As long as I’m alive, my grandparents will not be forgotten. . . I hear their voices in the letters they sent me and in my memories. They offer comfort, support, and guidance, and I will listen to them always.”
Jenna Bush Hager- Everything Beautiful in It’s Time- 2020
Now a co-anchor on the popular ‘The Today Show,’ Jenna has spent the greater part of her life in the spotlight. Jenna and her family have often been criticized based on her father’s and grandfather’s policies, but in this book, she provides a deeper look into her family, which has always been guided by faith and love.
To say Jenna’s book was moving would be an understatement. She had me laughing and filled my heart with love and joy. I can’t recall a book that made me cry as much as this one did. I honestly still get emotional just thinking about it! Jenna’s stories center around the love her family possesses and made me long for the America in which we could always find love at the core of the First Family, regardless of party.
Whether a republican, democrat, or neither, Jenna’s book will restore your faith in humanity. It is a beautiful and heartwarming collection of essays, and I couldn’t recommend it more.
