What would life be like if George Washington had been crowned King of America instead of becoming the first President?
Flash forward two centuries (present time), The House of Washington is thriving as the American Royal Family with King George IV on the throne.

American Royals, Page 11
His daughter, Princess Beatrice, is well on her way to becoming the very first Queen of America after a law was passed making the firstborn the heir- not just the first boy. With the future of America in the hands of Princess Beatrice, her parents want her to find a suitable husband- from a well thought out, albeit slim, list of eligible bachelors.
Princess Samantha, Beatrice’s younger sister, is considered the “spare”- next in line after Beatrice. Since most of the attention has been on Princess Beatrice growing up, Princess Samantha walks more on the wild side. But what happens when Samantha actually falls for a guy… who is already spoken for?
Then there’s Prince Jefferson, Princess Samantha’s twin brother. He would have been first in line for the throne a decade earlier, but now that duty has been bestowed upon his older sister. Though not first (or even second) in line, he’s still a Prince and still handsome as can be. Prince Jefferson has two girls right on his heals- his ex-girlfriend, Daphne- the well polished, suitable partner and America’s sweetheart (with a secret dark side), and Nina- a commoner and Samantha’s best friend.
How will the royal siblings navigate through the perils of young love with such a demanding duty to the Crown?
What a book! I absolutely adored every moment of it. I don’t typically read young adult novels, but I’m so glad I picked this one.
This book pretty much has it all- glitz, glamour, romance, forbidden love, politics, schemers, and royal everything! Imagine “The Princess Diaries,” but actually in America– not Genovia.
The writing style is fabulous. It’s easy and quick to read, without lacking in any detail. McGee also delicately and beautifully writes around the romance parts- for the younger readers out there.
I truly loved this book. I’m shocked at how much I loved it, considering it was YA, but wow! I cannot wait to read the second in the series. Highly recommend grabbing a copy!
